Adactio: Journal—Image-y nation, by Jeremy Keith
At 1020concepts I used this exact principle for the website of kasboek.org. I works really nice although you should make sure that when the large image doesn’t exists the page keeps loading.
-prefix- Don’t use them!
I don’t get all the fuzz about the css vendor -prefix- problem. If a browser doesn’t support a prefix and the css declaration doesn’t get set in that browser, shouldn’t it just be fine? If a prefix doesn’t get set and it breaks my website or app I suck as developer. I would go even so far as to stop declaring prefixes in my website’s and only declare the cross-browser declaration.

Please delete my Google Analytic code if you copy my websites html, it’s getting annoying by now!
